What a year we are having. At the start of 2020, we made what we thought at the time were simple plans. Some goals for the year. Some holiday ideas. No one would have thought we'd be where we are now half way through the year.
One of our plans for the year was to go to Machu Picchu, and potentially try and visit some coffee farms as part of our holiday. While international travel now seems like a long while away, luckily we have still been able to get access to some great coffee from Peru via Cafe Imports.
San Ignacio is a province of the Cajamarca Region in Peru. With great growing conditions, Peru is starting to emerge as a specialty coffee producer. Although the coffee growing culture isn't quite as developed as countries like Colombia, farmers of Peru are starting to move more and more into specialty coffee production.
On the cupping table, prominent cherry and vanilla tones caught my attention balancing nicely with a dark chocolate body. This coffee is well suited to espresso and filter brewing, and will offer something for black and milk coffee drinkers alike.
