Description
It is true that in the last couple of years we have all faced challenges – but this is especially true for Edgardo Urquia. With hurricanes Eta and Iota both impacting the farm in the 20/21 harvest, I think we are lucky to be tasting this coffee at all.
Edgardo is the owner/operator of Beneficio Villa Florida – a larger farm broken up into smaller subplots. The farm has been growing coffee for almost 30 years, and Edgardo is the third generation to take on the family farm.
Finca El Bosque (The Forest) is an 11-hectare subplot, planted with Caturra and Lempira varieties. Experimentation at the farm has led Edgardo to process this subplot naturally, which works especially well for the Lempira variety.
Always looking to the future, Edgardo's plans include increasing production, improving coffee quality, and implementing new processing. Sounds like El Bosque will be one to savour for years to come.
